About us

The Oakland Group is a fast growing, modern consulting company who operate at the intersection of people, process and technology. As data specialists, we work across the full data ecosystem including: Strategy & Governance, Architecture, Engineering and Advanced Analytics.

We’re on a mission to create the best data consultancy in the UK, where our brilliant people can create the ingenious solutions that are powering our growth.

Founded in 1986 out of our Leeds HQ, we work with a wonderful range of clients ranging from FTSE 100 Telcos to Series-A funded start-ups, regularly punching above our weight due to our obsession with quality and client satisfaction.

Oakland has been named one of the Top Small Businesses and Top Consultancies to work for in the UK. We’re committed to ensuring our employees are given opportunities to grow both personally and professionally and are rewarded for their incredible work.

Our obsession with quality and client satisfaction had led to rapid growth in the last year and we work with some of the UK’s biggest and best-known brands along with a number of newer tech disruptors.

Due to exponential growth over the past 18 months, we have a number of opportunities across each of our talented and passionate teams. We’re still small enough for everyone’s voice to be heard whilst working with some of the worlds most recognised companies.

The role

Due to significant year on year growth of Oakland Data Governance & Strategy capabilities, our talented team is growing. We’re looking for entrepreneurial, technically excellent Data Strategy & Governance consultants to play a key role in developing our offering.

As a Senior Consultant your role will be varied. Not only will you be an Oakland SME, delivery strategy and governance initiative to our fantastic range of clients, you’ll also get involved in internal capability development, thought leadership and presales.

The person

Our Oakland offering is well defined but ever evolving, so we’re looking for someone to bring their own personal experience to compliment and help develop our proposition further. In order to do this, the successful candidate will not only pull on their past experience, but also be on the lookout for new trends, tools and patterns within the Data landscape.

Our clients range from PE backed start-ups to FTSE 100 institutions, so experience working across multiple industries would be advantageous. You’ll also need to know your stuff across a range of DG and Strategy practices, including: Data Management, Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Policies, MDM, Data Migration, Data modelling, Data Architecture, Data tooling, documentation and DAMA etc.

As we’re a small (but growing) consultancy, you’ll be both a “thinker” and a “do’er”. This means your will be both strategic and delivery focused so you’ll need to be capable (and willing) to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.

The Skillset

  • Ability to carry out strategic analysis and roadmap creation
  • Strong experience in a Data Consultancy or senior Data Strategy role
  • Significant experience of planning and executing business wide Data Governance & Data Management initiatives
  • Strong consulting skills across all organisational levels
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent practical experience of Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Policies, Master Data Management, Data Migration, Data Modelling, Data Architecture & Data Tooling
  • An understanding of underpinning DG technology landscape such as: Purview, Alation, Collibra etc.
  • Experience delivering data strategy and governance frameworks, based on industry standards but with your own thought leadership and ideas included

Oakland is an equal opportunities employer, committed to developing, maintaining and supporting a diverse workforce. We welcome applications from anyone who believes they fit the essential requirements of the job advertised.
