Util quantifies the impact of a company’s products and services on the UN SDGs and 2,000+ sustainability concepts based on evidence extracted from 120 million peer-reviewed academic journals. The Sustainability Quantitative Research Analyst will drive research into sustainability investment leveraging Util's award-winning data sets to advance our product offering and support the needs of our clients.

Role/ Responsibilities:

  • Drive execution of innovative sustainable investing analytics/ studies for product development and marketing purposes (e.g., modelling the interconnections between the UN SDGs, analysis of industry/ sector specific sustainability impact)
  • Partner with Product Management and Product Design to oversee the integration of sustainable investing analytics and new features/ functionality into the product offering
  • Support Sales and Customer Success teams on client requests, e.g. conducting assessments of portfolio sustainability characteristics, and the integration of results into the investment process (from portfolio construction through to client reporting)
  • Work with Data Science/ Machine Learning team to develop proposals for potential methodological improvements and additions to the existing array of datasets and tools



  • Strong interest in ESG and sustainability
  • MS or PhD in physics, engineering, statistics, applied math, quantitative finance, or other quantitative fields with a strong foundation in statistics
  • Demonstrable work experience as a quantitative researcher building quantitative financial models (e.g. Creating Multi-factor equity stock selection models from scratch, Back-testing of Equity Performance Indicators and Quantitative strategies)
  • Ability to conduct independent research utilizing large data sets
  • Skilled in Python, including fluency with pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib.
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL
  • Aptitude with statistical software/ tools (e.g., JupyterLab).
  • Highly motivated, willing to take ownership of his/her work, driven to solve problems and work effectively under pressure.
