The role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer II or Senior to join our team. In this role, you will take on the critical responsibility of defining system requirements, safety goals, and ensuring vehicle characterisation to support the development and implementation of advanced automotive systems. This position will play a vital role in designing and testing systems related to Safety ECUs, Motion Controllers, Safety, Connectivity, Cloud & App Interfaces and Performance Monitoring. You will also oversee system documentation, reporting, and regulatory compliance in line with industry standards.
The responsibilities:
Requirements Definition and System Architecture:

Develop and manage detailed system requirements and architecture for automotive systems, including safety-critical components and performance criteria.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements for Safety ECUs, Motion Controllers and system-level safety goals.

Define interfaces for connectivity and cloud-based applications, ensuring integration with vehicle and remote monitoring systems.
Safety Goals and Compliance:

Establish safety goals and standards for system components, working to ensure compliance with industry safety regulations and certifications (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE).

Collaborate with the safety and compliance teams to integrate regulatory and safety requirements into system designs.
Vehicle Characterisation and Test Definition:

Develop and execute vehicle characterization plans, outlining test parameters and procedures to validate system performance and safety.

Define and oversee both in-lab and on-vehicle testing procedures, ensuring alignment with system requirements and safety objectives.

Develop testing criteria for motion control systems and safety reactions to evaluate system robustness under various operating conditions.
Connectivity, Cloud and Application Interfaces:

Define interfaces and requirements for cloud connectivity, remote monitoring, and app-based system interactions, ensuring robust communication and data flow.

Work closely with Cloud and software development teams to ensure secure and reliable interfaces between vehicle systems and external applications.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Implement performance monitoring frameworks, leveraging data analytics and monitoring tools to track system performance and ensure alignment with safety and operational benchmarks.

Document and report on performance metrics, safety compliance, and system testing outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting:

Develop comprehensive documentation for all system requirements, safety goals, test definitions, and performance monitoring activities.

Report regularly to management on project progress, safety compliance, test results, and risk assessments, providing insight into system performance and safety.
The profile:
Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE) and compliance requirements.

Proficiency in requirements management and system architecture tools (e.g., Jama, FlowEngineering, Doors).

Knowledge of cloud connectivity, data interfaces, and application integration.
- Experience with programming languages
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana) and logging frameworks
- Understanding of safety protocols, fail-safe mechanisms, and integration testing for real-time systems.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software or Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

- Effective communication skills, with the ability to document and report on complex systems and safety protocols.
