We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join Vio.com 's Online Travel Agency group and help us to create and improve tools that allow us to provide the best booking experience on Vio for travelers all around the world so that they can discover, reserve, and use the best accommodation deal with our advanced tools and services.
We use a modern stack consisting of Elixir, AWS (ECS, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SQS, … ), Terraform, and more. We work closely with our customers, hence, anything that you will develop and ship on production will have an almost immediate impact on our users and on our business performance. We work in a flexible, results-oriented, data-driven, and customer-centric team structure, focusing on shipping value in a collaborative fashion, with hopefully just the right amount of bureaucracy.

What you will do?

Work in a team to solve challenging problems, and build products to help bring our travelers the best deals available in the market.

Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvements regarding performance, reliability, and code quality.

Write technical documents and participate in architecture meetings with fellow engineers, having the goal of future-proofing our services.

Mentor and support less experienced engineers through knowledge sharing and guidance.

Help to improve our infrastructure and scale it to support our growth in a cost-effective way.

Report to the Engineering Manager for effective communication and alignment.
Who we are looking for?

You have at least 5 years of experience in backend development.
-
You have experience with at least two programming languages such as Erlang, Go, Rust, Python, Java, Scala, or Ruby. Experience with Elixir is a plus, but not a hard requirement as long as you are excited to learn it.

You have proven experience with designing, developing, and shipping highly scalable software.

You have experience with distributed systems and Event-Driven systems.

You have hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD tools.

You have a strong commitment to writing tests, code quality, and maintainability.

You treat documentation as a first-class citizen.
