In Ireland, we are the national sales company of six brands - Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, SEAT, CUPRA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Our combined share of the Irish automotive market is 25%. 

We are looking for an IT Test Manager who will be responsible for leading the testing efforts with a hands-on approach across a programme of multiple interdependent IT projects. VGIE is embarking on an exciting digital journey, and you will play a vital role in getting us there. This is a 2-year fixed term contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for several key tasks including but not limited to the following:

IT Test Strategy:

  • Develop and implement an overarching test strategy for the entire programme and align with the Head of IT Planning & Projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to align testing activities with programme objectives.
  • Define testing milestones and deliverables for the programme and each individual projects.
  • Support the Head of IT Planning & Projects in looking at enhancing our existing testing tasks in our project methodology.
  • Provide insights to how to manage test activities/documents etc. in several types and sized projects.

Training/Coaching:

  • Lead individual project teams on the testing activities.
  • Provide training on the test methodology, processes, documentation, and tools required to complete the testing tasks.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
  • Foster collaboration and coordination among testing teams across projects.

 

Interdependent Testing:

  • Design and execute testing scenarios that address interdependencies between projects and end-to-end testing to validate the integrated functionality.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues to ensure seamless integration testing across the programme, identifying and resolving dependencies and conflicts.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish efficient testing workflows.
  • It may be required to actively participate in testing activities, especially in areas involving project interdependencies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex inter-project issues with a hands-on approach.

 

Quality & Risk Management:

  • Establish and enforce testing standards and best practices across projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate the overall quality of the integrated systems within the programme.
  • Implement metrics and KPIs to measure programme-level testing effectiveness.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with interdependencies between projects through the testing activities.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation plans to ensure smooth integration testing.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Min. 5 years of experience in Test Manager role
  • Proven experience in managing test activities across interdependent projects and open to a hands-on approach for the test management process.
  • High level proficiency in testing processes, frameworks, documentation, and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey testing objectives, progress, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Ability to train and coach unexperienced UAT users in testing methodology and required tasks.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve complex testing challenges.
  • Successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, motivated, and pro-active in their role.
  • Strong documentation skills to create clear and comprehensive test plans, test cases, and other testing artifacts.
