About Us ๐๐ฅ๐
Created by Petros and Ilias in 2017, Wikifarmer is a global platform with the mission of empowering farmers by educating them and offering them access to the open market to sell their products at fair prices.
Most farmers in the world still cultivate their fields with techniques learned from experience or taught by their ancestors, leading to non-optimum practices in terms of yield and regard to the environmental impact. Farmers produce the most valuable part of the food supply chain, but they are the ones getting the least value out of it. Wikifarmer is building both an educational platform and a Digital Marketplace. On one side of our Platform, producers can tap into and update their agricultural knowledge and practices and on the other side they can upload their products for free, gaining immediate and direct access to domestic and international markets.
We are currently a team of around 37 people, with our HQ in Athens ๐ฌ๐ท We have a small team based in Spain ๐ช๐ธ and a couple of people remote in the UK ๐ฌ๐ง and Italy ๐ฎ๐น
Having secured a new round of funding from Point Nine (Revolut, Delivery Hero, Typeform), Wikifarmer is looking to continue building out a formidable team of industry experts.
Our Values ๐
Transparency: Transparency is about openness, honesty, and accessibility of information. It builds trust, enhances communication, and promotes a collaborative and informed work environment. Whether internal or external, we believe that transparency contributes to a culture where individuals are empowered with knowledge and are better equipped to make informed decisions
Ownership: We foster a culture where individuals feel a personal connection to the organisation's success. It involves accountability, a proactive mindset, openness to diverse perspectives, a willingness to learn and improve, and a commitment to delivering value, even if it means rectifying mistakes to ensure customer satisfaction.
Flexibility and Adaptability: We are responsive to change, whether in terms of business strategies, goal-setting processes, or operational methods. It involves a proactive approach to exploring new opportunities, adjusting to evolving conditions, and customising solutions to optimise outcomes.
Doer and Dreamer attitude: A doer and dreamer attitude encapsulates a mindset that combines both pragmatic action and visionary thinking. It is characterised by a dynamic approach to achieving goals that involves both hands-on execution and ambitious, forward-thinking aspirations thus promoting a culture of innovation, growth, and resilience in the face of challenges.
If you donโt fail you are not even trying: We promote a culture where errors are accepted, provided there is a commitment to understanding and learning from them for continuous improvement. Failure is not an outcome, rather a stepping stone towards innovation.
Team Players: Being a team player involves a combination of collaboration, mutual support, and a willingness to contribute to the success of the team as a whole. We actively seek and appreciate input and constructive criticism from others. It goes beyond individual accomplishments, emphasising the collective strength when each and every team member actively participates, communicates effectively, and values the contributions of others.
