In a nutshell 🥜

We are looking for a Head of Finance who will ensure Wikifarmer’s financial viability, profitability, and stability in addition to handling all financial activities for the company, adding value via innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have worked as a Head of Finance in a start-up, having already led a company through fundraising rounds. Our HQ is in Athens, so we’d love you to be based there however for exceptional candidates who tick all the boxes we will consider remote working.

Responsibilities include:

Financial Management:

  • Managing cash flow and working capital
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements
  • Developing and managing the company budget, ensuring it aligns with business strategy
  • Analysing financial data to identity cost-saving opportunities and developing strategies to reduce expenses

Strategy, Planning and Analysis: 

  • Providing insights to the wider leadership team, by interpreting financial data and translating it into actionable insights
  • Participating in the developing of the company's overall strategy plan
  • Providing financial guidance and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Creating business plans for future financing rounds
  • Identifying and evaluating potential acquisition or merger opportunities.

Leadership:

  • Leading, inspiring and developing an internal team of accountants
  • Participating in recruitment and hiring for both the Finance team and wider organisation
  • Building and maintaining excellent working relationships both internally and externally with investors and board members
  • Instilling a sense of financial accountability within the organisation

Key requirements include:

  • Fluency in English (fluency in Greek would be a huge bonus)
  • Experience building financial models and using them to analyst and forecast future performance
  • Technical skills such as expert knowledge of Excel, ERP systems and budgeting tools
  • Having led high performing teams previously with a deep understanding of how to develop and inspire others
  • Experience in start-up businesses, ideally very early stage (Seed - Series C)
  • You must be tech savvy and be willing and able to learn and use new technologies
  • You are a great storyteller and are able to present financial information in a compelling and understandable way
  • You are well networked with banks and financial institutions
  • Experience with Greek or Spanish financial regulations is an additional bonus
