In a nutshell 🥜

We are looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to lead and inspire the tech team of approximately 10 people whilst helping the company build a unique product with efficiency and speed. The ideal candidate will have navigated building out teams and team structures from a very early (seed) stage, with limited resources, through to Series B and beyond. The team is currently working on both our agricultural marketplace and our library of educational resources.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership:

• Leading, inspiring and developing the entire engineering organisation, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation
• Participating in recruitment and hiring for both the Tech team and wider organisation.
• Building and maintaining excellent working relationships both internally and externally with investors and board members.
• Driving clarity and alignment across teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
• Collaborate with the Founders on strategic business decisions.

Strategy, Planning, and Analysis:

• Defining the company's technology vision and roadmap, aligning it with the overall business strategy.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the business.
• Partner with the Product and Design teams to translate product vision into a technical roadmap.
• Manage engineering budgets and resources effectively.
• Champion technical innovation and stay abreast of emerging technologies.

Key requirements include:

• Fluency in English.
• Experience having built Engineering teams from the ground up.
• You are well versed in performance management and have the proven ability to elevate productivity.
• The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation, translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands on technical skills, with a good knowledge of PHP, React, SQL and cloud technologies as well as having mobile expertise.
• Experience in a tech start-up, ideally very early stage (Seed - Series C).
• You are able to tackle immediate problems whilst keeping the longer term vision top of mind.
• You are ideally based in Athens or able to relocate to Greece (from the EU or UK).
