About the role:

As a Senior/Lead Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in setting technical direction, designing complex systems, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality mobile applications. About You:

A YLD Software Engineering Consultant is a highly-skilled developer who exemplifies the highest standard in software engineering and enjoys sharing their knowledge and experience with others.

You’ll have the opportunity to build and deliver software within some interesting projects, both in terms of the product and the methodology. We work in an Agile environment (Scrum) with a test-first mindset (actually, writing code without tests should be unthinkable). We are also big advocates of pair programming and nothing is released until we have a code review.

You have a real passion for problem-solving and are an active learner who gets excited by working collaboratively with those around you.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will look like this:

  • Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to provide strategic insights on technology choices, feasibility, and project planning.
  • Design and guide the development of scalable and maintainable mobile applications using React Native, ensuring they meet client and user requirements;
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code;
  • Optimise application performance and ensure responsiveness;
  • Spearhead efforts to identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and architectural challenges, ensuring optimal app performance;
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in software engineering and incorporate best practices;
  • Mentor and coach software engineers, helping them grow their skills, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring that the team delivers high-quality work.

You’ll have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in mobile application development using React Native;
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript and the React framework;
  • Experience with state management libraries such as Redux or MobX;
  • Proficiency in using RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services;
  • Experience with GraphQL;
  • Familiarity with platform-specific features and differences;
  • Understanding of native modules and bridge communication;
  • Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git;
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality code;
  • A strong portfolio of previous mobile applications is a plus.
