We are looking for an experienced Bucharest based Financial Controller to join our growing Global Finance team here at YouGov.
As the European Finance Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards and overseeing the financial operations across the EU. Reporting to the Head of Finance UK EMEA, you will manage statutory reporting, tax filings, and financial stewardship, while also driving process improvements and fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Lead the timely filing of annual statutory financial statements and ensure regulatory compliance for all entities within the EU remit.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, coordinating the annual statutory audit and addressing audit queries.
- Review reconciliations and collaborate with auditors to mitigate risks effectively.
- Prepare comprehensive board papers on a quarterly basis, providing updates on financial performance, audit outcomes, and actionable insights.
Project Management and Process Improvement:
- Manage third-party accountants, ensuring accurate reconciliation of financial data and timely submission of tax and statutory filings.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements to streamline operations and enhance accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate reviews and year-end audits, including preparing reconciliations and managing requests from shared-service centres.
Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with senior stakeholders to keep them informed of financial progress and solicit input for decision-making.
- Coordinate with various internal teams to gather necessary information and meet reporting deadlines effectively.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including previous experience as a Financial Controller in a multinational company.
- Proficiency in IFRS accounting standards.
- Proactive self-starter with strong communication, organizational, and team management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
- Previous Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience is advantageous.
