YouGov is looking for a curious and creative Research Executive Intern who has interest in research and data analysis, and also has a broad general knowledge of news, trends and events. We are looking for someone who can help us with the management of content for our Ratings data tool – which measures popularity and fame of everything and anything – as well as YouGov Trackers.
In particular, you have to have interest in data and data-based-research, an analytical approach, a curious mind with a broad field of interests and knowledge ranging from politics and sports to philosophy, psychology and entertainment. You need to be up to speed with the global news events, comfortable with showing initiative and researching/engaging with new ideas and concepts which you might have not come across before.
Overall objectives: Support the YouGov Public Data team with research, organization of the data and finding out the missing links and elements in our data with a global outlook.
What will I be doing?
- Data management and organization
- Help with taxonomy architecture
- Handling of ad hoc requests
- Reviewing and checking of ongoing research projects and question our existing models and approach with the aim of making the research and the data better and alerting the team to any existing or potential issues
- Researching a particular interest area (eg. chess, music, loneliness, travel) and providing us with a broader understanding of the area and questions/approaches to research
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and propose new research
- Analyze and report on data
- Stay updated with the latest news, trends, and developments across various sectors (in particular, news, sports and entertainment)
- Take part in shaping research documents and reports
What do I need to bring with me?
- Interest in Market Research
- Basic research skills and statistical skills
- Educational background: studying business, finance (statistics), economics, politics or philosophy
- Speaking one more world language apart from English
- Digital literacy: comfortable with learning how to use data management tools and systems
