This Sustainability Manager role is an exciting opportunity to manage YouGov’s approach to sustainability and to make a tangible differences in the company’s employee engagement, social initiatives, environmental management, and corporate reporting. The role is responsible for developing and implementing on our sustainability programme – covering the broad spectrum of ESG and D&I factors – working closely with colleagues in our Governance and People departments. Key competencies to be successful in this role include a proven ability to oversee compliance with sustainability regulation, while also acting as a champion for YouGov’s ESG strengths.

This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days per week in the office. We support your work-life balance with a mix of in-office collaboration and home-based productivity.

Regrettably, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship, so you must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Demonstrable experience in the area of sustainability management, ideally in a comparable industry (for example research, media or technology) or a consulting environment
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives and objectives - across the broad spectrum of ESG and D&I areas - that are in keeping with YouGov’s size, strategy, business model and culture 
  • Strong understanding of YouGov’s social mission and ability to act as a champion for the company’s social and governance credentials in particular
  • Good communications skills, both written and oral, demonstrated through written communications and experience in delivering presentations
  • Experience in overseeing the collation and analysis of accurate and relevant data for regulatory disclosures (e.g. TCFD, SECR, ESOS, CSRD and EGPG reporting) 
  • Experience in managing external consultants for expertise on sustainability compliance matters, in particular environmental reporting obligations
  • Ability to draft and oversee the design of sustainability-related corporate reporting (e.g. annual ESG Report, UK Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap Report, and the ESG section of the Annual Report & Accounts), working with in-house or external design and communications teams 
  • Ability to maintain YouGov’s ESG content on our external websites and internal intranet
  • Ability to manage and get the most out of YouGov’s industry memberships, as required

 

These are the essentials you will need to get an interview:

  • 3-5 years of experience driving sustainability initiatives in a UK headquartered corporate environment, in particular social and governance-related initiatives
  • Strong understanding of environmental reporting regulations and obligations
  • Previous experience operating in a large global and complex organisation (either in-house or consulting)
  • Excellent written communications with proven experience of corporate reporting you have authored. This might include ESG disclosures, sustainability reports, or other relevant documents that showcase your ability to articulate complex ideas effectively
  • Ability to take a pragmatic and commercial approach to complex concepts
  • A minimum of 1 year of line management experience

 

It would be great if you had these too, but we’ll support you if you don’t:

  • Experience in sustainability portals (e.g. CDP, Ecovadis, Hellios)
