Our clients use our skills to help them to consider and understand the marine environment at all stages of the project life cycle, from concept development and master planning through to engineering design, construction and operation.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our engineering team as a civil engineer degree apprentice to develop your individual skills further and start your civil engineering career. A particular focus of this apprenticeship will be to prepare or support the preparation of design work, 2D and 3D drawings, and calculations. In addition, you will build and test physical models, analyse test results and prepare inputs for reports. You will liaise efficiently with engineering team members and the laboratory team, working closely with a wide range of staff.

The Degree

An apprenticeship enables you to earn a salary whilst studying for a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship. You will go to University for one day and work for the rest of the week.

The degree will teach you key engineering concepts, alongside vital professional skills in management, creative skills in design of civil engineering structures and systems and practical skills in surveying, geographical information systems (GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD).

Successful learners will gain a BEng(Hons) Civil Engineering degree and qualify as a Incorporated Engineer (IEng) once they have successfully completed the End Point Assessment.

The training provider will be dependant on the candidates location and ability to travel to the University.

About you

You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, numerate and articulate, willing to learn, flexible and work collaboratively. Your interpersonal skills will be excellent, and you will have high written and verbal communication standards. Those with a passion for civil or coastal engineering or a numerate science are especially welcome to apply.

Key Qualifications

You will need / or be expected to have:

  • A Level BBC - Must include Mathematics and preferably a Science in either Chemistry or Physics (UCAS points: 112); or
  • T-level (Merit or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying And Planning. (UCAS points: 120); or
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 128); or
  • BTEC Level 3 National Diploma D*D* in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 112); or
  • Civil Engineering Technician level 3 apprenticeship DD (UCAS points: 96) alongside grade Pass or Distinction at EPA.
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).
