The Head of Revenue Role

As we continue our mission to be the market-leading underwriting platform for agile insurers, we are looking for our first Head of Revenue in the US.

You’ll report to our CEO & Co-Founder, Andy to support our growth in North America. The role will take responsibility for developing and executing the Sales and GTM plans for the region to achieve our revenue targets. This will include leading our consultative sales process, producing tender proposals, delivering presentations and product demonstrations, negotiating contracts with potential customers, and representing Send at industry events.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep understanding of commercial insurance industry, sales processes, selling a SaaS platform, pipeline building, prospecting dynamics, and superb interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver product demonstrations and build tender proposals.

Our Funding

From 2017 to 2022, we bootstrapped our growth journey, transforming into a profitable and stable company. In November 2022, after a year of remarkable expansion in our revenue and team, we successfully obtained £9M in Series A funding to accelerate our expansion in the UK and US and our product development.

The Send Team

Over the past 18 months, Send has experienced remarkable team growth, expanding by over 50% to a team of 80+. At the beginning of 2023, our team was based in the UK and Poland. We’ve taken significant strides towards establishing a global presence and now have team members across the US and India, all working collaboratively to be the market-leading underwriting software platform for agile insurers.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Head of Revenue

  • Revenue Ownership: Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue growth strategy that aligning with Send’s overall objectives and market dynamics. Take ownership of regional revenue targets, demonstrating a results-driven approach in achieving and surpassing set goals.
  • Customer Base Expansion: Drive the expansion of our customer base by identifying, capitalising and closing on new business opportunities.
  • Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with Send overall goals and objectives.
  • Networking: Using your network and engaging with prospective clients at an early stage to develop a strong understanding of the bid process and competitive landscape.
  • Revenue Generation: Understand and communicate Send's value proposition and processes through proposals and presentations, as well as representing Send at industry events.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor competitors and ensure Send’s value proposition is strongly differentiated. Stay informed about industry trends and customer needs to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting: Input into forecasting and creating annual sales budgets and objectives. Establish sales reporting and KPI’s to support informed decision making.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with the wider sales and marketing teams, input into building data-driven marketing campaigns and product launches relevant for your region that strengthens the Send brand. Partner with the Product and Marketing teams to inform and iterate product positioning
  • Team Leadership and Development: Identify skill gaps in the team and hire effectively to build a team over time, acting as a coach to new team members.
  • Be comfortable working in a small (but powerful!) sales team, and get scrappy if necessary

The Skills and Experience Needed for the Head of Revenue Role

  • Deep knowledge and experience in the commercial insurance market.
  • Experiencing developing and executing successful sales strategies with a demonstrable impact on growth and ROI.
  • Demonstrable success in building and executing sales strategies that emphasise storytelling, are consultative in nature and build a strong value proposition for change.
  • Experience in a B2B sales environment and partnering with marketing, product and customer success teams.
  • A data-driven mindset and excited about driving and tracking a multi-channel sales strategy
  • Capable and excited to start as an individual contributor, but move to player/coach and building a team as the business grows
  • A strong track record of interacting and engaging with C-level executives and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with competitive tendering processes
  • Ability to juggle and complete multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter who can work independently.
  • Willingness to travel

Head of Revenue Interview Process

Our recruitment process for Head of Revenue role will consist of 4 formal interviews, plus informal interviews:

Intro call with our in-house recruiter, Liam (30 minutes) - This will cover your background, motivations and communication, along with a chance to get to know Send and the role better.

Stage 1 - Interview with Andy Moss, CEO (45 minutes)

Stage 2 - Interview with Sarah Sutton, CMO and Charlie Riley, VP Of Marketing (45 minutes)

Stage 3 - Interview and Task with Lloyd Peters, Head of Revenue and Mike Graham, Head of Commercial (45 minutes - 1 hour)

Stage 4 - Interview with Pat Caldwell, Chief People Officer (45 minutes)
