What Will Your Role Be

Our global flagship consumer brand Spreadshirt is planning to strongly expand its business with iconic consumer licenses. For that growth mission, we are seeking a highly motivated and result-driven Head of Licensing (f/m/d) who can make a significant impact and propel our business to the next level. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for the profitability and growth of our licensing business, managing Spread Group’s entire licensing portfolio and licensing partner acquisition throughout Europe and North America. This includes unique partnerships with Netflix, Warner, Peanuts, Mattel and Viacom. You will lead and develop a licensing team with 8 directs. 

What You´ll Do

  • Act as business owner of the entire licensing business and manage its P&L.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive licensing strategy aligned with business objectives and market trends. 
  • Identify and evaluate potential licensing opportunities across various industries and verticals. 
  • Source and secure high-profile licenses to expand our product offerings and enhance brand visibility.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with licensors, negotiating favorable terms and agreements.
  • Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of our internal processes and coordination with external partners (design creation, approval, launch, marketing, royalty reporting etc.).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams such as legal, marketing, 3rd party marketplace team, graphic designer team, and product development to align strategies and achieve business objectives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly report on the financial performance of the licensing business to the Commercial Director and executive team.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 8 directs, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of innovation and high-performance. 

What You´ll Bring

  • 10+ years of work experience in brand- /license management, thereof at least 3 years in an international B2C/retail environment, preferably in varying roles across agencies, licensors and licensees 
  • E-Commerce experience is a great plus 
  • University degree in business, marketing, or a related field. MBA or equivalent preferred  
  • Proven experience in acquisition / pro-active sales activities with a strong network in the international licensing eco-system
  • Entrepreneurial and commercially driven mindset, constantly seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Strong intuition for license-specific consumer trends and a feel for relevant design content
  • Strategic thinker with a growth mindset, constantly seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to extract actionable insights from complex data sets and translate them into strategic initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen, experience in managing P&L responsibility is a plus
  • Great leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of driving high performance and motivating others.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid negotiation skills and experience in building and maintaining successful partnerships.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English, additional language(s) is a plus
