About your key responsibilities and impact:

  • Leading and managing a team of platform engineers (30-50 team members, 5-8 sub-teams) and product managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture;
  • Developing and executing the technical strategy and product roadmap for teams under your management, aligning it with the company's goals and objectives;
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in the platform architecture and infrastructure;
  • Facilitating effective communication and coordination within the team and across other departments; 
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our platform;
  • Collaborating with Project and Product Managers in planning, prioritizing, and managing the execution of platform projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards;
  • Collaborating closely with other engineering leads, architecture board, product managers, and stakeholders to understand their requirements and incorporate them into the platform development process; 
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying risks and issues, and proactively implementing solutions to overcome obstacles;
  • Fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery of projects; 
  • Providing technical guidance and support to cross-functional teams during the integration of their systems with the platform; 
  • Ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the platform by implementing best practices and monitoring systems;
  • Driving initiatives to optimize the platform's performance, availability, and response times;
  • Establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the platform's reliability and performance, and take necessary actions to meet or exceed targets;
  • Setting clear performance expectations, providing feedback, and supporting the career development of team leads and other key members within an engineering organization; 
  • Performing regular 1-2-1 sessions with team leads and key members to monitor people's moods and proactively resolve people's issues.

Essential professional experience:

  • Leadership or managerial experience on Data projects for 5+ years, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of data engineers;
  • Familiar and hands-on experience with Data Governance best practices (Data Catalogs, Data Lineage, Data Security and Privacy, etc);
  • Experience with developing strategies for data products; In-depth knowledge of data engineering technologies and tools, including but not limited to databases (SQL, NoSQL), data warehousing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes (e.g. Airflow), data modeling, data analytics/reporting (e.g. Tableau / PowerBI), and big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark);
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and understanding how to leverage cloud-based services for scalable and cost-effective data solutions;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and foster collaboration across teams;
  • Upper intermediate level of English.
