The role

As the Director of Engineering for Marketplace Dynamics, your job is to set the vision for this part of the organization, provide strategic planning, budgeting, org planning including hiring, and performance management of the current team. You should have strong leadership skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.

Our Marketplace Dynamics Team is responsible for the software used by our agents and operations teams to deliver our services. These teams are focused on financial systems that pay agents in 80+ countries, capacity planning, demand forecasting and labour marketplaces as well as systems that support reporting and situational awareness across our entire platform.

You will be leading a growing organization of 3 Engineering teams, providing mentorship and guidance.

The first principle of execution is reliable delivery — you honour your commitments. You should set clear expectations for your deliverables and drive them to completion. Communication is key, say what you’re going to do, do it, and then let everyone know that it’s done.

The second principle of execution is intelligent prioritization. You will be expected to set the strategy and roadmap for your organization, aligning it with the overall vision of the company.

 

Leadership

Your role is not just to manage, but to lead. You will be expected to provide clear direction, mentorship, and support to your teams, setting the example for how to work and behave.

You will also be responsible for hiring and performance management, ensuring your teams are staffed with the best talent and performing at their best.

 

Technical Proficiency

As a technical leader, you will be expected to have deep understanding of software engineering principles and processes, be able to understand and discuss architectural decisions, and contribute to the development of our technical infrastructure.

Experience in developing and implementing process improvements, software methodologies, and process automation is crucial.

 

Location

As a part of this role you will be managing a globally distributed team that has members in IST and CET timezones. You will also regularly meet with clients who are based in EST and PST, because of this we’re looking for a candidate based in EST so they will have reasonable overlap to meet with members of their team while also being available to collaborate with clients.

 

Working Schedule

The ideal candidate should have availability between 10am to 3pm EDT from Monday to Friday.

  • Compensation Breakdown
    • Base: $190k
    • Target Cash Bonus: $90k 
    • Equity*: $46k-$115k
    • Total Comp: $326k - $395k = $280k Max Cash + ($46k-$115k Equity)
    • *Equity value based on $200M-$500M valuation range, and represents 1 year of vesting.
    • Total equity grants are on a 4-year vesting schedule with a 1-year cliff.
