Join us as a Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) in our Service Area Management team on a shared journey that matters!

The Service Area Management team is building complex map systems for managing our virtual stop network, which is a core part of MOIA’s business and enables the Ridepooling experience for our customers. These systems ensure that the meeting points between our ever-growing fleet(s) of (soon to be autonomous) vehicles and customers take place in the perfect locations.

What you will do

  • You and your team build and maintain software systems to manage locations and polygons on a city scale map. Customers and drivers (and soon self-driving vehicles) trust these places can be reached easily and safely. Therefore, care is mandatory and monitoring and improving is your daily business.
  • What does the perfect stopping point for a self-driving vehicle look like? Join us on our journey and create software that shapes the future of autonomous vehicles in an urban environment.
  • The data provided by the team is highly relevant to other teams at MOIA. You will collaborate with these teams to further automate the management of the data. Therefore, very good communication skills and openness are essential. Collaboration with peers (e.g. the product owner) to organize work and mentoring your team members will also be a big part of your work.
  •  To reach these targets jointly, you become part of a specialized team of engineers with different areas of expertise such as backend development, frontend development, UX design and quality assurance.

What will help you to fulfill your role

  • Experience in Kotlin or another JVM language
  • Passionate about developing tailored solutions
  • Understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems and event-driven communication
  • Experience in working with AWS services, especially AWS Lambda and DynamoDB, would be ideal
  • Knowledge of current trends in software design, event-driven architecture and DevOps
  • Effective communication skills and interest in being part of highly autonomous and cross-functional teams
  • Fluent communication in English

We encourage you to apply even if your profile does not meet all the requirements for the role since we are looking for a diverse range of experiences, skills, and interests. We are certain that there will be something for everyone because we are working on such a variety of tasks and embrace individual growth at MOIA.
