About the Role

Payhawk Financial Services UAB is a licensed Electronic Money Institution in Lithuania. We are looking for an extraordinary risk manager to take charge of PFS UAB’s risk function. 

As a senior team member, you will:

  • Implement and coordinate the risk management process of the PFS UAB;
  • Be responsible for the effective assumption of manageable risk and help the organization avoid anything that might threaten the successful execution of PFS UAB’s duties; and
  • Be directly accountable to the firm’s Management Board and will be an ad-hoc attendee of the meetings of the firm’s Management Board.

The ideal candidate should have several years’ of experience in a senior role in a regulated Financial Services industry (such as payments, banking or fintech) and ideally, in a fast-scaling environment, where they were responsible for building the team and processes from scratch. 

Responsibilities

  • Determining and evaluating PFS UAB's risk tolerance, and implementing the processes in the PFS UAB enabling the organization to identify, measure, monitor, and control all the risks it faces;
  • Identifying, controlling and analyzing risks which affect or may affect PFS UAB’s activities, conducting risk monitoring and control;
  • Escalating identified risks and control issues to the Management Board;
  • Reporting to the Management Board and provision of well-grounded insights and recommendations to the Management Board in respect of risk management, risk limits, risk appetite and remedial actions;
  • Daily monitoring if the set limit for each risk is not overstepped as well as whether there is no need to change the level of the risk according to the circumstances;
  • Informing the Employees about the acceptable risk level in their respective areas;
  • Maintaining an electronic risk register (the ERR) and preparing risk maps;
  • Drafting and supplementing internal risk-related documentation;
  • Monitoring risk-related legislation and best-practices; and
  • Submitting the Risk Maps and reports on the risk management to the Management Board.

Professional Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a payment or banking institution in the risk area;
  • Must be familiar with compliance standards for the industry, including financial, property, operational, or personnel reporting, regulations, and standards;
  • Must have knowledge of financing and insurance strategies to build up preventative measures against potential losses;
  • Must be a proven leader and manager, able to take charge and act assertively without guidance;
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Must possess knowledge of risk analysis, database management, risk metrics, and capital management;
  • Extensive knowledge of Lithuanian legal requirements and compliance regulations;
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to build and manage processes and teams from scratch;
  • Must be both a problem solver and a risk taker; and
  • Proficient with risk management, auditing techniques, and accounting standards and principles.

Resources

  • Adequate expertise and resources to fulfill the risk management function; and
  • Ability to engage appropriate internal engagement and external assistance.


Industry and Geography

  • Good understanding of the SaaS industry and venture-backed businesses;
  • Experience in a fast-scaling, high-velocity and dynamic environment, ideally with a track record of successfully building business, operating and outsourcing processes from scratch; 
  • Candidate to be based and have status to work in Lithuania.
