Klang is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Game Designer to join our team and play a critical role in the development of SEED, our ambitious life-simulation virtual world.
As a Senior Game Designer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and refining various game systems, mechanics, and content while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating engaging player experiences, and a proven track record in game design.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative game systems, mechanics, and content that align with the SEED vision and adhere to our design lenses, ensuring a cohesive and engaging player experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including artists, programmers, and producers, to ensure successful implementation and iteration of game design features.
- Create clear and concise design documentation, including technical writing, diagrams, and spreadsheets, to effectively communicate design concepts and requirements to the team.
- Analyze game data and player feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, balance, and optimization in game mechanics, economy, and overall player experience.
- Mentor and guide junior designers, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a cutting-edge understanding of game design principles and techniques.
- Participate in regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback to help shape the future direction of the game.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in game design, with a focus on virtual worlds, life-simulation, or sandbox games.
- Successfully shipped games.
- Strong understanding of game design principles, including game balancing, economy, and player progression systems.
- Proficient in technical writing, creative writing, and the use of spreadsheets for game design and analysis.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Passion for creating engaging and meaningful player experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on cross-platform games, particularly PC and mobile.
- Familiarity with game data editing tools and techniques.
- Avid gamer with a deep understanding of the MMO and life-simulation genres.
