The Role / Position Overview

The Financial Times Board Director Programme (FT BDP) is an established provider of board level training and events. Our mission is to support individuals at every stage of their board career; to ensure that directors are well equipped to make an effective contribution to the boards they sit on, for the long-term success of the organisations they represent.

FT BDP programmes are uniquely delivered by an experienced faculty of practicing board members who bring with them a wealth of real-life experiences to enrich the learning of course participants. Through our training programmes, we aim to help improve standards of corporate governance globally and open doors onto boards for individuals who might not fit a ‘typical’ board member profile.

Courses range from self-led elearning modules to a six month fully accredited qualification for Non-Executive Directors.

FT BDP is currently recruiting for a Sales Executive to work with the Sales Manager ensuring that commercial targets are met across the portfolio.

Communicating with both internal and external stakeholders will form a significant part of the role and we are looking for candidates that can show that they can deliver results whilst co-ordinating effectively with various stakeholders.

You will become a brand ambassador for the FT Board Director Programme. Our brand and a good customer experience should be core to all that we do, as market leaders in board training: you must be able to effectively and confidently communicate with customers and speakers of all levels.

Main responsibilities and duties:

  • Selling delegate places on the core FT BDP courses and events.

  • Assisting the Sales manager with any partnership or bespoke client briefs.

  • Attending and networking at all face to face events throughout the year (evenings)

  • Adhering to and exceeding KPIs, including meetings, calls, new business targets etc.

  •  Individually forecasting and recording sales performance to achieve quarterly targets

  • Daily, accurate usage of the CRM system to ensure that all information and activity is recorded

  • Creating and maintaining strong relationships with members and candidates through verbal and written communication

  •  Liaising and building strong relationships with the Marketing team, Client Service/ events team, Publisher and faculty members.

  • Sourcing and identifying new business leads and ensuring that these are followed up.

  • Reporting of business activity to key stakeholders through regular meetings

Required skills / experience

  • Possess very strong sales ability with excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Experience of working in a client facing sales environment

  • Good business and commercial acumen.

  • Capable of working autonomously, and communicating at any level up to and including board members of PLC companies.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and interpersonal), including an ability to communicate well and persuasively with a range of external and internal stakeholders, using a variety of media.

  • Confident in producing and delivering presentations to a range of audience sizes and job levels.

  • Creative problem solving skills and can-do attitude.

  • Self-confident, motivated and able to offer solutions to problems.

  • Ability to multi-task whilst remaining calm and professional.

  • Customer centric approach with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work well under pressure with multiple stakeholders and to tight deadlines. Be results driven.
