Here’s a summary of the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Internal Audit Manager to ensure the effectiveness of YouGov’s internal controls, risk management processes, corporate governance activities and compliance with laws and regulations.
As part of our in-house Audit & Assurance team you will support the development of the annual, risk-based Internal Audit plan, provide independent assurance over the effectiveness of our internal controls and where appropriate, recommend control improvements to mitigate risks identified during audit fieldwork.
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):
Annual Planning: Support the development of the annual Internal Audit plan based on a comprehensive risk assessment and conversations with senior stakeholders from across the business. Liaise with relevant stakeholders to define the scope of audit engagements, agreeing on timeframes for completion of fieldwork and expected evidence to be provided to evaluate the effectiveness of internal control activities.
Audit Fieldwork: Execute audits in line with our audit methodology, adhering to audit standards, to identify and assess risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
Reporting: Present audit findings to stakeholders and prepare clear and concise reports for senior management and the Board, highlighting findings, recommendations and associated remediation actions.
Follow-up: Monitor the implementation of agreed management actions and ensure their resolution in line with agreed timeframes, providing ongoing communication regarding their status. Conduct follow-up audits to assess the adequacy of corrective actions taken.
Continuous improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, good practice and monitor, evaluate emerging technologies, processes, potential risks and regulations affecting internal audit and YouGov more broadly.
These are the essentials you’ll need to get an interview:
- Proven track record of planning, executing and reporting on internal audit reviews focused on financial and operational activities in complex, global organisations.
- Demonstrable experience of performing risk assessments and developing the annual Internal Audit plan.
- Experience of using data analytics techniques to increase efficiency/population coverage when identifying risks, process gaps and control failures.
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional, international teams and present complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Solid time and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks to ensure work is delivered on time, to budget and to expected quality.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-changing environment and execute with urgency, while still maintaining the ability to apply sound judgement to conclude on the effectiveness of control operation / level of residual risk.
It would be great if you had these to, but we’ll support you if you don’t:
- In-depth knowledge of auditing standards, risk management practices and internal controls.
- Professional certifications such as ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA (Accounting Qualification), or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
- Experience in performing external / internal audit activities in a US-listed, SOX-compliant environment.
- Experienced in performing technology-focussed internal audit reviews, including IT General Controls (User Access, Change Management etc.), Cyber Security and IT implementation / migration programmes
